Maker Society was started in early 2015 by a group of passionate students who wanted a space where students could be more hands on. They wanted a makerspace but couldn't find anything campus resources, so they took the hard road and decided to create their own for the betterment of current and future students at Mines. Through hard work Maker Society built a member base in the Mines community. They started workshops to teach everything from Arduino to welding. Since 2015, Maker Society has caused the creation of two full makerspaces at Colorado School of Mines. The Blaster Design Factory in Brown Building atrium and the Digger Design Lab in the basement of the EPICS Annex. The club fully furnished and populated the Blaster Design Factory in the eyes of the students who would be its main users.
